The secret to our success is our dedicated, loving staff and the high standards of NAEYC accreditation.
Evidence-based early education in a loving environment helps kids thrive in kindergarten and beyond.
More than a daycare, we are a community.
The unique mission and long history of St. Paul brings together families from all walks of life to learn and connect. Here your child can grow in a diverse, loving community.
More about us
-
Research shows that young children learn best through play, and experience their world through all their senses. This helps lay important foundations in the brain for all higher level learning. At St. Paul, we get messy, silly and have fun!
While we play, our experienced teachers design individualized learning for each child. We target thirty-eight developmental objectives using Teaching Strategies SmartTeachTM.
Through observation and assessment, we determine where and when each child’s learning is happening. These daily observations are integrated into weekly lesson plans for individualized learning.
We focus on social-emotional wellness as foundational for all learning. This looks like:
Caring for each other and building community in the classroom
Peaceful conflict resolution
Consistency and healthy routines
Embracing emotions and expressing them in safe, acceptable ways
Self confidence blooms as they are encouraged to explore and take safe risks to learn new skills.
Maya Angelou said ”Each child belongs to all of us and they will bring us a tomorrow in direct relationship to the responsibility we have shown to them.” Our program embraces this community ideal. Teachers and families are partners in every child’s challenges and successes to help them feel whole.
-
We offer care to infants as young as six weeks all the way to Pre-K3.
Our classrooms are tailored to the developmental stages of each age group to ensure safety and support focused learning and milestone-based growth.
-
We know working families need full day care. We are open 6:30AM to 5:30PM with no additional fees for a full day.
-
Nutritious food is essential to healthy development. We provide breakfast, lunch and a healthy snack to all children at no additional cost, as well as formula for infants.
We also provide diapers at no additional cost.
-
We believe the best way to teach Christ’s love is to love. We welcome families from all faiths and backgrounds to be part of our community. Everyone will be loved here.
Our faith-based program teaches children that they are loved by God and by their community through developmentally-appropriate methods as part of our evidence-based curriculum.
-
NAEYC accreditation means low child-to-teacher ratios and nationally recognized curriculum. It means independent reviews of our teachers and classrooms. National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation means you know your child is in good hands.
We also meet the high standards of many state and federal certifications and programs:
Texas Rising Star 4-star rated (highest possible)
Texas School Ready participant
CCS certified
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
-
We work with local and federal programs to make our high-quality care affordable to families who need extra support. We are certified to work with CCS as well as military families.

We are now located on the beautiful campus of The Children’s Shelter, who welcomed us in 2026.
We remain an independent organization, but this new partnership allows us to share resources, amenities like the splash pad, art rooms and full cafeteria, and support our confluent missions to love and care for children in this community.
Parent reviews
“St. Paul CDC was like a gift sent from above! From the moment we stepped in, I could sense the love and dedication that the staff put in there. I was terrified to leave my young infant with people I had just met, but somehow I knew we were in the right place… We recommended it to all friends with small children. ”
— Michelle G.
“I actually went to St. Paul Child Development Center when I was a kid. We didn't even know they were still operating. We took a tour and I really fell in love with the staff and the mission of the school. I knew nothing at the time about NAEYC or STAR ratings. I just knew this was a caring environment and we had to be there.”
— Stephanie O.
“St. Paul might be the best-kept secret in San Antonio. The tuition is reasonable, the center is accredited and there was no waiting list.”
— Abigail R.
